Kik adds easy photo sharing, group messaging

kikKik continues its quest to become the multi-platform BlackBerry Messenger alternative. Today, the company announced the arrival of two important features: photo sharing and group messaging.

Group conversations have been implemented the way many desktop instant messaging apps have done so. Start a conversation with one user, and you can add other contacts to your discussion -- it's a more natural way to handle groups than sending broadcast messages to pre-defined groups, Kik says.

Photosharing has been designed to be as fast and simple as possible. If you spot something you need to share with your chat partner, just snap a picture and zap it to them with a couple of clicks.

The new features are available on Kik's mobile web site or in its mobile apps.
